Luna Sea is a variety band made up of some of the region's Top Professional Musical Talent. In fact, the members of the group can collectively boast numerous album releases (both independent and major label), years and years of national touring experience, gold and platinum records and other music industry awards, as well as many other music industry milestones. Though each member has other "real" bands they're involved with, Luna Sea is an outlet for each of it's members to play the songs they grew up with and love to perform, as well as some modern Top 40 and classic rock songs that audiences love to hear. Luna Sea has been rapidly growing in popularity since Melody, Jeff, Eric, and Ray began working together - and there's no sign of the band's success slowing down.
When attending a Luna Sea show, you'll witness the electrifying stage presence the group has become known for. Melody sings with a passion that comes directly from the soul, and must be seen and heard in person to fully appreciate. Jeff combines soulful guitar licks with lightning fast fingers and incredible slide guitar work, while demonstrating incredible showmanship that tears up every inch of the stage. Whether twirling, throwing, or juggling drumsticks, Eric displays such control over his "acrobatic style" drumming, that his performance commands your attention. Ray holds everything together with solid techniques on his 5-string bass guitar, while incorporating his own dance movements.

ERIC ALTHAUS (Drums, Percussion) - Co-Founded, toured / recorded, and managed Major Label Recording Artist "EQUINOX" (signed to JVC/Victor). Equinox is a progressive rock band (ala Rush, Yes, Styx, Kansas, Dream Theater) that receives airplay in over 50 countries, and their albums have hit the Top 20 and Top 40 charts in Europe, Asia, North America, and South America. RAY PROBST (Bass Guitar, Vocals) - Since attending Music Tech in the early 90's, Ray has been playing with some of the top local bands around the Twin Cities area. His tenure includes playing full-time with Sugar Shack Recording Artist “TOROK” and National Festival Sensations “THE MINDY GUNN BAND”, as well as filling in with many others. JEFF JOHNSON (Lead Vocals, Lead/Rhythm Guitars) - In a musical career that began with piano at the age of seven and continued with saxophone through college, Jeff picked up a guitar at the age of 15, and self-taught by listening to records by Led Zeppelin, Bad Company, Moody Blues, Beatles, Black Sabbath, UFO, Uriah Heep, Kiss, Jethro Tull, and many other highly influential bands of the 70’s. He was also highly influenced by, of all things, the syrupy melodies of the bubble gum pop era of the late 60’s-early 70’s. This combination of influences has resulted in a style that can be described as heavily blues-influenced, with a strong sense of melodic presence. Jeff has performed onstage with numerous groups for nearly 20 years, routinely playing to packed, standing room only houses as well as in front of thousands of fans at large outdoor festivals.
